After months of uncertainty caused by visa complications, filming has finally commenced in India for Prince, the upcoming film starring Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan. Although the project has started later than originally planned, all administrative and official hurdles have now been cleared. A source close to the production has confirmed that the full cast and crew are currently shooting at designated locations across India, with work progressing at full pace.

According to the initial schedule, principal photography in several Indian cities and scenic locations was supposed to begin in December last year. However, persistent visa issues affecting actors, technicians and other crew members forced repeated delays. These setbacks created significant uncertainty around the project and placed considerable pressure on the production team, particularly given the film’s ambitious scale and its planned release during the lucrative Eid season.

Determined not to lose valuable time, director Abu Hayat Mahmud opted for an alternative strategy. Filming officially began in Bangladesh on 6 January, with key scenes shot in Dhaka and a number of carefully selected locations across the country. In an effort to maintain narrative continuity and add visual diversity, the team also travelled to Sri Lanka, where several sequences were completed. Despite these efforts, the storyline and character arcs required specific Indian backdrops, making a shoot in India essential rather than optional. The filmmakers therefore remained committed to completing that portion of production once the visa issues were resolved.

Now that filming is underway in India, both the director and producer Shirin Sultana have chosen to remain discreet about detailed schedules and locations. Sources close to the project suggest that the team wishes to avoid unnecessary speculation or logistical complications and is focused on completing the shoot efficiently. A formal media briefing is expected once a substantial portion of the Indian schedule has been wrapped.

Despite the earlier delays, the producers remain confident that Prince will still be released during Eid-ul-Fitr. If post-production proceeds as planned, the film is expected to be one of the major attractions of the festive box office. Promising a blend of action, emotion and a contemporary storyline, Prince has already generated considerable anticipation among Shakib Khan’s fans and the wider cinema-going audience.

Below is a summary of the film’s key preliminary details:
