The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again reduced gold prices in the domestic market. This time, the price of 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk 3,674 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk 204,283. The revised price will take effect on Tuesday (October 28).
BAJUS announced the decision in a press release issued on Monday (October 27) night.
According to the statement, the price of acid gold (pure gold) in the local market has fallen, prompting the association to adjust gold prices considering the overall situation.
As per the new price list, each bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk 204,283. Meanwhile, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 194,999 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 167,145 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk 138,942 per bhori.
BAJUS stated that a mandatory 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% making charge fixed by BAJUS must be added to the sale price. However, the making charge may vary depending on jewelry design and quality.
Earlier, on Sunday (October 26), BAJUS adjusted gold prices by reducing them by Tk 1,039 per bhori for 22-carat gold, setting the rate at Tk 207,957.
At that time, the price of 21-carat gold was Tk 198,498 per bhori, 18-carat gold was Tk 170,143 per bhori, and traditional gold was Tk 141,496 per bhori. Those rates became effective on Monday (October 27).
Alongside gold, the price of silver has also been reduced. The new price for 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk 4,246 per bhori, down by Tk 1,224.
Additionally, 21-carat silver will cost Tk 4,047 per bhori, 18-carat silver Tk 3,476 per bhori, and traditional silver Tk 2,601 per bhori.
This marks the ninth adjustment of silver prices this year — with six increases and three decreases. Last year, silver prices were adjusted three times.
