Mominul Haque, potential MP candidate of BNP from Chandpur-5 (Hajiganj-Shahrasti) and former president of Chandpur District BNP, stated that if someone could guarantee him entry to paradise, he would withdraw his candidacy.
He made this remark addressing Maulana Abul Hossain, the Jamaat candidate for Chandpur-5, during a rally organized by Shahrashti Upazila and Municipal Youth League on Sunday (2 November) afternoon.
Speaking as the chief guest at the youth rally on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Nationalist Youth League, Mominul Haque said, “This country became independent in 1971 at the cost of millions of martyrs’ blood. Those who opposed the liberation struggle and intend to come to power while rejecting the national flag and anthem of Bangladesh will not be allowed to do so. The people of Bangladesh will never accept it.”
The rally was presided over by Shahrashti Upazila Youth League convener Ali Azgar Miazi, with joint moderation by member secretary Ehteshamul Gani and senior joint convener Advocate Sahedul Haque Majumder. Special guests who spoke included Upazila BNP president Alhaj Ayet Ali Bhuiyan, general secretary Md. Selim Patowary Liton, Municipal BNP senior vice president Abul Kalam Patowary, Upazila BNP leader ATM Zia Uddin Badal, former Municipal BNP president Sheikh Belayet Hossain Selim, and Municipal Youth League convener Md. Zakir Hossain Noyon.
