In a special operation in Raozan and Satkania upazilas of Chattogram, the district police recovered a significant quantity of domestic and foreign firearms and ammunition.
According to the police, the joint operation by the district police, RAB, naval police and APBN was conducted from the night of Wednesday (19 November) until Thursday morning. Ten teams of law enforcement took part in the raids across Noapara, Bagowan, East and West Gujra, Sultanpur, Kadolpur, Raozan Union, and the municipal areas. Seventeen checkpoints were also set up simultaneously at various locations.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 8 LGs, 6 rounds of cartridges, 14 knives, 3 rams, 2 chapatis, 2 swords, 1 kirich, and 1 electric cutter. During checkpoint searches, 28 motorcycles and a truck were detained. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 37 cases were filed, and five individuals were arrested for various offences. Separately, RAB recovered 3 LGs, 2 swords, and 1 kirich.
In Satkania, the police recovered a foreign pistol, 2 shotgun cartridges, an iron stick, 3 Android phones, and 6 button phones. Md. Tarek and Md. Minarul Alam were arrested in connection with the seizures. Tarek faces four cases, including murder. On the same night, police also arrested Ayub, a member of an inter-district robbery gang, who faces three robbery cases.
