Five more people died from dengue within a 24-hour period from 8 am on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. During the same period, 636 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
These details were provided in a press release issued on Sunday (30 November) by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to the release, among the 636 newly admitted dengue patients, 75 were admitted in Barishal Division, 95 in Chattogram Division, 116 in Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations), 147 in Dhaka North City, 74 in Dhaka South City, 56 in Khulna Division (outside the city corporations), 45 in Mymensingh Division, 17 in Rajshahi Division, 2 in Rangpur Division and 9 in Sylhet Division.
Across the country, 803 dengue patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals within the same 24 hours. With this, the total number of patients discharged this year has risen to 92,025.
From January this year until now, a total of 94,402 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. So far this year, 382 people have died from the disease.
Notably, from January to 31 December 2024, hospital admissions due to dengue totalled 101,214, while 575 people died from the virus. The previous year, in 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, and 321,179 patients were admitted to hospitals.
