NRB Bank and MetLife Extend Credit Card Protection Deal

NRB Bank PLC has renewed its partnership with MetLife Bangladesh for an eighth consecutive year, extending an arrangement that provides insurance protection to eligible credit cardholders.

Under the renewed agreement, eligible NRB Bank credit cardholders will receive insurance coverage aimed at helping settle outstanding credit card balances in the event of death or permanent disability. The coverage will apply in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the relevant insurance policy.

The agreement also includes an In-Hospital Cash Benefit for eligible cardholders. Customers who meet the applicable conditions will be entitled to the benefit for each hospitalisation, providing financial support that can be used to help manage expenses during medical treatment and recovery.

The agreement was signed by Tareq Reaz Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NRB Bank, and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, on behalf of their respective organisations. Senior officials from both institutions attended the signing ceremony.

The renewal continues a partnership that has linked NRB Bank’s credit card services with insurance protection for eight consecutive years. For eligible customers, the arrangement provides an additional layer of financial support alongside their regular credit card facilities.

The insurance coverage relating to death or permanent disability is intended to address outstanding card liabilities when a qualifying event occurs. Subject to the policy provisions, the benefit can help settle the relevant outstanding balance, potentially reducing the financial burden associated with such an event.

The In-Hospital Cash Benefit addresses a separate aspect of financial risk. Hospital treatment can involve expenses beyond the direct cost of medical care, including various costs incurred during admission and recovery. The agreed cash benefit is designed to provide eligible cardholders with financial assistance when they are hospitalised, subject to the applicable conditions.

Both benefits remain governed by the terms of the relevant insurance arrangement. Eligibility, qualifying circumstances, coverage and claims will therefore depend on the policy provisions rather than applying automatically in every situation.

The latest agreement keeps the insurance-related benefits available to eligible NRB Bank credit cardholders under the continuing partnership with MetLife Bangladesh. It also marks the eighth consecutive year of collaboration between the two organisations in providing these additional protection benefits to customers.
