Tarique Rahman Visits In-Laws After 21 Years

After a hiatus of nearly 21 years, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman visited his in-laws’ residence in Sylhet, accompanied by his wife, Zobaida Rahman. The visit took place late on Wednesday, 21 January, with the couple arriving at their ancestral home in Birahimpur village, Silam Union, South Surma, Sylhet, at 12:40 a.m.

According to Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam, Tarique Rahman began his visit by paying respects at the graves of his in-laws and other relatives. Following this, he partook in a locally prepared meal organised for the occasion.

Earlier in the evening, Tarique Rahman visited the revered shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) and Hazrat Shah Paran (R.), engaging in religious prayers and rituals. Recognising the historic significance of his arrival, the hosts arranged special prayers and a community feast. Forty large pots of akhni were cooked and distributed to nearly 12,000 people, highlighting both hospitality and celebration.
