The Ministry of Education has announced a significant policy update aimed at reducing the difficulties faced by MPO-listed teachers and facilitating employment opportunities closer to their homes. The revised “Transfer Policy for MPO-Listed Teachers in Private Educational Institutions (Schools and Colleges) – 2026” was officially issued on Tuesday, 27 January, under the signature of Rehana Parveen, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.
The most notable feature of the new policy is its emphasis on transparency and efficiency. According to the Ministry, the entire transfer process will now be conducted through automated software, eliminating the need for teachers to approach influential offices or intermediaries to secure postings. The policy is effective immediately from the date of issue.
Key Features of the 2026 Transfer Policy
Preference for Home Districts: Teachers may initially apply for transfers within their own district. If no vacancies exist locally, they may submit applications for positions in any other district within the same administrative division.
Family-Friendly Provision: One of the most human-centric amendments appears under Clause 3.8(g). Teachers may now request transfers to the district where their spouse is posted, offering a long-awaited solution for thousands of families separated due to professional obligations.
Automated Process: The entire transfer application and approval procedure will be managed digitally, ensuring fairness, speed, and a reduction in bureaucratic interference.
