Bogra, 2 February 2026 – A 26-year-old housewife in Dhunat Upazila has lodged a formal complaint accusing a local pickup driver of rape after he allegedly lured her into a maize field under the pretext of securing a government ration card.
The accused, Tutul Sarkar Titu, 45, from Sultanhat village in Chikashi Union, is the son of Dudu Sarkar. On Monday, 2 February, the victim filed a case against Titu at Dhunat Police Station, alleging that he forcibly assaulted her in the evening after manipulating her trust.
According to the police case report, Titu had developed a relationship with the woman by promising to obtain a government ration card on her behalf. On 25 January, Titu allegedly persuaded her to accompany him to the Upazila Parishad, claiming it was necessary to process the application. The victim waited throughout the day under various pretexts arranged by Titu, but the ration card officer was reportedly absent, and the official process could not proceed. Titu then took on the responsibility of returning her to her husband’s home.
However, at around 7:30 pm, near her home, close to Sultanhat Government Primary School, Titu allegedly led the woman into a nearby maize field and committed the assault.
Dhunat Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Harunur Rashid Sardar, the investigating officer, confirmed that initial investigations have corroborated the victim’s account. Efforts to arrest the suspect are ongoing. Authorities have emphasised the seriousness of the crime and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
