A Bangladeshi expatriate has been reported dead in Bahrain following a missile strike carried out by Iran, marking the latest escalation in the region’s ongoing military tensions. The deceased has been identified as Abul Mohsin, also known as Tarek (52), a resident of Azimpur Union in Sandwip, Chattogram. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, at approximately 3:30 a.m. local time in Bahrain.
Family sources, citing relatives currently residing in Bahrain, stated that Abul Mohsin was employed at a facility named RC Drydock in the capital, Manama. The missile strike struck the facility during the night, resulting in his immediate death.
Speaking to media, the deceased’s brother-in-law, Riaz Uddin, confirmed that the family received the tragic news at 6 a.m. Bangladesh Standard Time on Monday. Efforts are reportedly underway to repatriate the body to Bangladesh for proper funeral rites.
Abul Mohsin had migrated to Bahrain in 2009 and leaves behind a daughter. Neighbours noted that his immediate family continues to reside in Chattogram city. Sandwip Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Abu Zayed Md. Najmun Noor, confirmed that authorities are monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant channels to verify the incident and support the family.
This latest strike is part of Iran’s retaliatory attacks in the Persian Gulf region, following previous military actions by the United States and Israel. Countries hosting US military bases, including Bahrain, have been targeted with missiles and drone strikes.
Earlier, another Bangladeshi expatriate, Saleh Ahmad, was killed in a similar attack in the United Arab Emirates. Saleh Ahmad lost his life during a bombing incident in Ajman, UAE, on Saturday night.
