“Bizzoy Refuses To Play Without Restored Honour”

Enamul Haque Bizzoy, the experienced wicketkeeper-batter, has declared that he will no longer play cricket until his reputation is fully restored. The 33-year-old’s name had appeared on the match-fixing suspicion list during the 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), resulting in his exclusion from the 2026 BPL season alongside several other players.

Although it was initially expected that Bizzoy would still be able to participate in other domestic tournaments, the recent Adomyo Bangladesh T20 Cup and the ongoing BCL One-Day League also did not grant him permission to play.

Speaking to journalists at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium during the BCL final on 3 March, Bizzoy made his position clear. “I have played cricket for honour, not for money,” he said. “I want my honour back. Until that happens, I will not play.”

He further elaborated, “The situation with me has been entirely unfair. I was listed under suspicion without proof. That matter has now been clarified, but I will only return to cricket once the Board formally acknowledges that I am innocent.”

Bizzoy has represented Bangladesh in 77 international matches across all formats. He stressed the importance of transparency and closure, adding, “As long as the top officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) do not publicly restore my honour and clearly inform the public that I am not guilty, I will not play. It is time to decide once and for all whether I did something wrong or not. Hanging in limbo is unacceptable.”

A summary of Bizzoy’s career and the situation is presented below:

Category Details
Age 33 years
Role Wicketkeeper-Batter
International Matches 77 (all formats combined)
2025 BPL Listed under match-fixing suspicion
2026 BPL Not permitted to play
Domestic Tournaments Excluded from Adomyo Bangladesh T20 Cup & BCL One-Day League
Statement Will not play until honour is restored

This development has sparked renewed discussions within Bangladesh cricket regarding player rights, board responsibilities, and the ethical management of the sport. Bizzoy’s firm stance highlights that for professional players, recognition, fairness, and reputation are just as crucial as participation on the field.
