Neymar Sued by Private Chef Over Exploitative Conditions

In a development that has sent ripples through the sporting world, Brazilian football icon Neymar Jr. is facing a substantial legal challenge from a former domestic employee. According to reports from the Brazilian media outlet Metrópoles, a woman previously employed as the player’s private chef has filed a lawsuit in the Regional Labour Court, alleging gruelling and exploitative working conditions at his luxury residence.

Allegations of 16-Hour Workdays

The claimant, whose identity has been withheld for legal reasons, alleges that she was forced to endure an unrelenting schedule at Neymar’s mansion in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro. The core of her complaint centres on the sheer volume of work; she asserts that she was required to work 16 hours a day without adequate breaks.

The workload was reportedly exacerbated by the frequent large-scale gatherings hosted at the property. The chef informed the court that she was often responsible for preparing meals for more than 150 guests in a single day. Furthermore, she claims she was denied weekly rest days, effectively being held to a seven-day work week.

Physical Toll and Health Concerns

Beyond the exhaustion of long hours, the lawsuit details the physical injuries allegedly sustained during her tenure. The chef claims that the requirement to transport heavy supplies—including large quantities of meat and other bulk catering goods—has resulted in chronic health issues.

Injury Reported Description
Lumbar Strain Severe back pain resulting from lifting heavy kitchen supplies.
Hip Inflammation Chronic inflammation attributed to long periods on her feet and physical exertion.
Medical Evidence The claimant has provided records of doctors’ consultations and diagnostic tests.

Financial Claims and Legal Targets

The financial discrepancy between her base salary and her actual earnings is a focal point of the litigation. While her formal monthly salary was approximately 4,000 Brazilian Reals (roughly 93,238 BDT), she claims that with overtime and bonuses, her compensation reached 7,500 Reals (174,000 BDT). She is now seeking substantial compensation and “maintenance allowances” for the damages incurred.

Interestingly, the lawsuit is not directed solely at the Al-Hilal forward. The legal action also names the recruitment agency through which she was hired, alleging that both the employer and the intermediary failed to uphold basic labour standards. Neymar’s legal team has yet to issue a formal rebuttal as the case remains sub judice.
