Teen Dies in Keraniganj Road Crash

A 15-year-old boy lost his life and another individual was injured following a motorcycle accident in the Panagao Bazar area of South Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka.

The deceased has been identified as Nirob, aged 15, son of Alamin Mia from Danga village in Matlab Upazila of Chandpur district. According to family members, Nirob had been residing in the South Keraniganj area of Dhaka district for work purposes, where he was engaged in day labour to support his livelihood.

The incident occurred on Thursday night, 16 April, when the motorcycle they were travelling on reportedly lost control while passing through the busy Panagao Bazar stretch. Witnesses and family accounts suggest that the vehicle veered off the road and collided violently with a roadside pole, leaving both riders critically injured.

Locals quickly responded to the scene and rescued the injured individuals before transporting them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Upon arrival, attending doctors examined Nirob and declared him dead. The second passenger sustained serious injuries and was later admitted to Mitford Hospital for further treatment.

Officials at Dhaka Medical College Hospital confirmed the death and stated that the body had been placed in the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Authorities also informed the concerned police station to proceed with the necessary legal procedures in connection with the incident.

A relative of the deceased, identified as his uncle, stated that Nirob had gone out on a motorcycle ride with a friend during the evening. The ride, which was intended to be routine, ended in tragedy when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near the market area.

Preliminary accounts indicate that excessive speed and loss of control may have contributed to the crash, although no official investigation findings have yet been released. Law enforcement authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including road conditions and possible mechanical or human factors.
