Grameenphone has entered into a partnership with Prime Bank FinTech Limited to extend access to secure and inclusive digital and financial services across Bangladesh. The collaboration integrates Grameenphone’s connectivity infrastructure and digital ecosystem with Prime Bank FinTech Limited’s Mobile Financial Services (MFS) platform, with the aim of improving accessibility and accelerating usage of digital financial solutions.
The arrangement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at GPHouse in Dhaka. The signing was carried out by Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, and Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank FinTech Limited. Senior officials from both organisations were present at the ceremony.
Through this partnership, customers will be able to perform Grameenphone mobile recharge using Prime Bank FinTech Limited’s MFS platform. The integration is designed to simplify routine transactions and provide a more streamlined user experience by bringing telecommunications and financial services into a single channel.
In addition, selected telecom and financial services will be made available through USSD technology. This provision enables customers without smartphones or internet connectivity to access essential services, thereby expanding availability to underserved and rural users. USSD remains a widely utilised channel in Bangladesh due to the continued use of basic mobile handsets among segments of the population.
Yasir Azman stated that the initiative aligns with Grameenphone’s focus on customer-centric service delivery. He said the partnership would help integrate financial services with everyday mobile connectivity, enabling customers to access services more safely and conveniently regardless of their device or internet access.
Sheikh Aminur Rahman noted that the collaboration would reinforce the MFS ecosystem and expand its reach. He added that leveraging the combined strengths of telecommunications infrastructure and financial technology would support the delivery of accessible and secure services to a wider customer base.
Representatives from Grameenphone attending the event included Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam; Chief Business Officer Asif Naimur Rashid; Head of Digital Business Zahiduz Zaman; Head of Prime Accounts Arvid Chowdhury; Head of Digital Retail Inzamul Haque Chowdhury; and Md Hasanul Islam. From Prime Bank FinTech Limited, attendees included Chief Commercial Officer Mohammad Mahbub Sobhan; Head of Brand and Communication Nabila Khalid; Additional General Manager Mohammad Mahmud Hassan; and Head of Technology Operation and Services Mahidul Hasan.
