Popular Bangladeshi singer and Closeup One star Salma has released a new song, ‘Prem Leela’, featuring singer Biplab Saha. The duet combines the two vocalists’ distinct styles with a music video that brings together romantic themes and elements of traditional Bengali culture.
Released under the banner of Bishwarang Presents, ‘Prem Leela’ has lyrics by lyricist Nirmal Das, while Rajon Saha has composed and arranged the music. The arrangement has been designed around the emotional aspects of love, allowing Salma’s familiar vocal style to blend with Biplab Saha’s contrasting delivery.
The accompanying music video places particular emphasis on Bengali cultural imagery. Traditional clothing, folk-inspired styling, carefully designed sets and other elements associated with the country’s cultural heritage have been incorporated into the visuals. The production seeks to present the romantic mood of the song alongside a distinctly Bengali visual atmosphere.
Biplab Saha has also taken responsibility for directing the music video. Anik Chanda handled cinematography, while Zakaria Masud Rony was responsible for make-up. The editing was completed by Rakib Ahmed, with colour grading handled by S M Tushar.
Salma first came to wider public attention through the Closeup One musical talent competition and subsequently established herself as a familiar voice in Bangladesh’s music scene. Her repertoire has included different styles of Bengali music, with her vocal identity particularly associated with songs that carry strong melodic and folk influences.
‘Prem Leela’ continues her work in recorded music while introducing a duet format alongside Biplab Saha. The collaboration also extends beyond singing, with Saha taking on the visual direction of the project.
The song has already been released across digital platforms, while its music video is available through Bishwarang’s official YouTube and Facebook platforms. The release adds another contemporary production to Salma’s body of work, with the project placing equal attention on the song’s musical presentation and its visual connection to Bengali heritage.
Speaking about the release, Salma said listeners would find a somewhat different flavour in the song. She praised the lyrics, composition and musical arrangement and said the traditional Bengali elements incorporated into the music video had been presented in an aesthetic manner. She also expressed hope that the song would appeal to audiences.
