The discovery was made at approximately 4:30 pm on Wednesday, 9 September, near the Munshi Bari residence in the Khaserchar Paschimpara area under Dhalla Union. Local residents initially noticed a strong, pungent odour emanating from the nearby marshland around 2:00 pm. Prompted by the foul smell, several villagers inspected the site and spotted the floating remains trapped within dense vegetation behind the homestead. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, they immediately alerted the local police station.

Upon receiving the report, a team of police officers from Singair Police Station dispatched a squad to the scene to retrieve the body and secure the surrounding area for preliminary examination. Due to advanced decomposition and severe physical distortion resulting from prolonged immersion in water, investigating officers were unable to establish the teenager’s identity or estimate his exact age at the scene.

Confirming the recovery, Officer-in-Charge of Singair Police Station, Md Mazharul Islam, stated that the body was retrieved, a inquest report was prepared, and arrangements were being finalised to transfer the remains to the morgue at Manikganj Sadar Hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination. Forensic experts at the facility will conduct an autopsy to determine the precise cause and timeline of death.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a comprehensive enquiry to ascertain whether the incident was a homicide or an accidental drowning. Local police are cross-referencing recent missing person reports filed across neighbouring police stations in Manikganj and adjacent districts. Formal legal proceedings remain underway as investigators await the forensic findings.
