Police have arrested 40 individuals during a coordinated special drive across various neighbourhoods in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. The operation targeted suspects facing summary trials, individuals named in court warrants, suspected drug traffickers, and an accused person linked to a anti-discrimination case. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, Md. Emdadul Huq, confirmed the arrests on Monday afternoon, 14 September.
The drive forms part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb criminal activity, clear outstanding arrest warrants, and maintain public order across industrial and residential blocks in Siddhirganj. Of the 40 individuals taken into custody, 30 face summary trials, five were arrested under existing judicial warrants, four were detained on drug-related allegations, and one was arrested in connection with an anti-discrimination lawsuit.
The five individuals arrested under court warrants have been identified as Abdur Rahman Shuvo, Md. Jafar, Rafiqul Islam, Md. Rony, and Helal Gazi.
Those facing summary trials include Ainul Huq, Md. Hridoy, Md. Momin, Romjan Ali, Manik Sikdar, Johirul Islam, Badal, Saiful Islam, Mostafizur Rahman, Shahjahan, Maruf, Masum (alias Machhi), Oli, Md. Nasir, Monju, Jaber, Afjal, Md. Rafiq, Md. Saiful Islam, Mintu, Md. Abul Hossain, Md. Ripon, Md. Fahad Hossain, Ashraful, Md. Matin, Babul Peda, Md. Ripon, Md. Limon Khan, Ismail Hossain Showkat, and Md. Shamim.
Law enforcement also detained four individuals in connection with drug offenses, identified as Md. Sohel Rana, Amir Hossain, Md. Joni, and Shahida Begum. Additionally, Md. Khalilur Rahman Shyamal was arrested as an accused in a case associated with the anti-discrimination movement.
Following their arrest and the completion of initial police procedures, all 40 suspects were forwarded to the Narayanganj District Court. Police officials confirmed that similar law enforcement drives will continue across the region to ensure public safety and bring fugitives to justice.
