Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Moniruzzaman handed down the sentence alongside a fine of 1,000 taka, with an additional 15 days of simple imprisonment in default of payment. The convict, identified as Md. Bashir, hails from the Chhota Gaurichanna area within the Gaurichanna Union of Barguna Sadar upazila.

The drama unfolded around midday inside the courtroom of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate at the Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court complex. According to Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Md. Kamrul Islam, Bashir was present for a scheduled bail hearing regarding an ongoing criminal case. When the magistrate formally rejected his petition and directed that he be taken into custody, Bashir became visibly agitated. He began shouting aggressively at the bench, demanding to know why his bail had been cancelled, whilst hurling profane and derogatory remarks across the courtroom.

Despite warnings from lawyers present during the session, Bashir refused to calm down. The situation escalated rapidly when court security personnel intervened to restrain him and apply handcuffs. Bashir violently resisted the officers, striking and pushing them. Three police officers—identified as Md. Siddique, Md. Shahjahan, and Hanufa—sustained injuries during the scuffle, with Officer Shahjahan suffering the most severe blows before the police managed to subdue the assailant.

Recognising the immediate threat to court decorum and officer safety, Magistrate Moniruzzaman promptly took cognizance of the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code. The court recorded testimonies from eyewitnesses present during the disruption before delivering the summary conviction.

Barguna District Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Nurul Amin confirmed the legal proceedings, reiterating that the judicial order was executed swiftly to uphold the dignity of the court. Following the sentencing, police escorted Bashir to the district jail under heightened security.
