Currently, farmers are engaged in transplanting Aman seedlings onto moist fields following early seasonal rains.
To support uninterrupted irrigation, the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) has made 365 deep tube wells fully operational. These tube wells will ensure water availability throughout the growing season, an official from BMDA confirmed.
In parallel, state-run banks, including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, are disbursing agricultural loans on favourable terms. These loans are aimed particularly at poor and marginal farmers, enabling them to cultivate T-Aman paddy without facing financial constraints.
The DAE is also conducting farmer training programmes focused on:
According to Rostam Ali, Acting District Training Officer of DAE, these initiatives are crucial for boosting productivity and sustainability.
The progress so far is encouraging. The transplanted seedlings are thriving, and farmers across the district are optimistic about a bumper yield this year.
