The first incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in a village within Mymensingh’s Nandail upazila. According to the case details, the victim, a Class 6 pupil at a local secondary school, was routinely subjected to harassment and unwanted propositions by her neighbour on her way to school. Taking advantage of the absence of the girl’s mother—who was visiting her maternal grandfather’s house—the suspect entered the residence and assaulted the child. He subsequently threatened her with death if she disclosed the incident. After the victim recounted the ordeal to her parents, her father lodged a case under the Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act on Friday night. Police executed a raid later that evening to arrest the accused.

In a separate case in Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila, a young woman died on Friday night whilst undergoing medical treatment, prompting conflicting claims regarding the nature of the attack. Local sources and police confirmed that the woman had visited a beauty salon on Tuesday evening to prepare for her uncle’s upcoming wedding. Upon leaving the salon, she boarded a motorcycle driven by an individual named Russel. Shortly afterwards, local residents discovered her abandoned and severely injured in a nearby marshy field.

She was initially admitted to the Bheramara Upazila Health Complex, where Dr Mizanur Rahman, the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, noted she was brought in around 8:30 pm on 15 September with reported road accident injuries and vomiting. As her condition deteriorated, doctors referred her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital the following day, where she ultimately passed away.

Family members suspect foul play involving her former husband, Abu Bakkar, from whom she had divorced three months prior, alongside two or three accomplices. Sub-Inspector Moinul Islam of Bheramara Police Station stated that the victim’s father submitted a written complaint on 17 September against Abu Bakkar, Russel, and four to five unidentified individuals, citing physical assault arising from prior enmity.

However, Kushtia Superintendent of Police Aminul Islam noted a discrepancy in the statements. During questioning, the victim’s mother and grandmother stated that the deceased had disclosed being gang-raped by three to four men before her death. Police are actively investigating both the assault allegations and the physical violence claim to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the incident.
