Ukraine’s Foreign Minister has issued a powerful call for intensified international action against Russia after a recent airstrike killed six civilians in Kyiv. The statement comes amid growing outrage over the escalating civilian toll and Moscow’s continued refusal to halt hostilities.

Sybiga Demands Coordinated Global Response

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin, labelling him a “war criminal” and calling for unified, forceful international pressure to bring the war to an end.

“President (Donald) Trump has been very generous and very patient with Putin, trying to find a solution,” Sybiga wrote.

“Putin does not care about any attempts to put an end to the killing. He only seeks to destroy and kill. The entire existence of this war criminal is based on this senseless war — which he cannot win, but refuses to end.”

Sybiga further urged the international community to pursue coordinated sanctions and tougher measures, stating:

“It’s time to make him feel the pain and consequences of his choices. It’s time to put maximum pressure on Moscow.”

“It is time to synchronise all sanctions steps. It’s time to achieve peace through strength.”

Quotes from Andriy Sybiga

Statement Summary
“Putin does not care about attempts to stop the killing.” Accusation of indifference and cruelty
“He only seeks to destroy and kill.” Emphasis on Putin’s war-driven motivations
“He must face justice.” Demand for accountability on the global stage
“Time to synchronise all sanctions steps.” Call for united international sanctions
“Achieve peace through strength.” Endorsement of a firm stance to end the war

The remarks followed a Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv that resulted in six civilian deaths and dozens of injuries, including children. The attack is part of a renewed wave of aggression by Russian forces as the war, now in its fourth year, continues with no sign of resolution.

Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to its Western allies to increase military aid and diplomatic pressure on Russia, stressing that only a united, forceful response can halt further bloodshed and lead to a durable peace.

Ukraine’s position is clear: without decisive international action, the conflict will persist, and the humanitarian toll will continue to rise
