Fifty new cases of measles have been identified across Faridpur district over a 24-hour period, according to the latest official health bulletin released on Monday, 28 September. Health authorities confirmed that no fatalities were recorded during this timeframe, providing a brief respite amidst the ongoing public health situation.
The report issued by the district health department revealed that 14 new patients were admitted to Faridpur General Hospital, while 36 were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Over the same 24-hour period, a total of 52 patients recovered and were discharged from both medical institutions, demonstrating steady patient recovery rates.
Cumulative figures from 1 January to 28 September show that Faridpur has registered 6,191 measles cases so far this year. The district has recorded 21 deaths attributed to measles-related complications during this nine-month period. These figures highlight the persistent burden of infectious diseases on the regional healthcare infrastructure.
At present, 108 patients are receiving inpatient medical care across the two primary healthcare facilities in the district. Faridpur General Hospital currently accommodates 25 patients in its specialized isolation wards, whilst Faridpur Medical College Hospital is treating 83 individuals. Healthcare workers are providing continuous monitoring to manage potential complications such as secondary respiratory infections or severe dehydration.
A geographical breakdown of the newly admitted patients indicates that 36 of the 50 individuals belong to various sub-districts within Faridpur itself. The remaining 14 patients arrived from neighbouring districts seeking specialized tertiary medical care at the regional medical college, underlining the hospital’s role as a major medical hub for the surrounding area.
Hospital authorities and local medical administrators assured the public that dedicated treatment facilities, isolation units, and adequate essential medical supplies remain available to manage incoming patients effectively. Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely, advising residents to maintain hygiene standards, ensure timely vaccination for children, and seek immediate medical assistance at nearby healthcare centres upon noticing early symptoms such as high fever, coughing, or skin rashes.
