The devastating rains, which began last week, have led to severe flooding, landslides, and significant infrastructure damage, affecting numerous districts within the capital.
Emergency services have been deployed extensively to search for missing persons, rescue stranded residents, and restore basic services to flood-hit areas.
The authorities have yet to release a detailed breakdown of the fatalities or the names of the missing, as rescue and recovery operations remain ongoing.
This tragic toll underscores the mounting challenges posed by extreme weather events in China, which experts say are increasing in frequency and severity due to climate change.
