Former Additional Secretary Found Dead at Officers’ Club

The bloodied body of former additional secretary Md Mosharraf Hossain was recovered from an under-construction building at the Officers’ Club in Ramna, Dhaka, on Friday morning. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to police and Officers’ Club sources, Mosharraf Hossain arrived at the club with his younger daughter at around 10am on Friday. He was a member of the club. After entering the premises, he left his daughter near the swimming pool and went inside the building under construction.

About an hour later, security personnel found him lying in a pool of blood beside a staircase on the ground floor of the building. They subsequently informed the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

The body was later sent to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. The examination is expected to help establish the cause of death.

Yasin Mia, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, said the initial assumption was that Mosharraf Hossain had fallen through an open space beside the staircase and lift shaft.

However, police have yet to determine how he fell or whether the incident was accidental.

The officer said it would be possible to establish whether the death resulted from an accident or involved any other circumstances after examining the autopsy findings and completing the investigation. Police are looking into the details of the incident to determine what happened inside the building.

Mosharraf Hossain lived at House No. 40 in Block G of Banani, Dhaka. He had two children, and his elder daughter lives in the United States.

His death has raised questions about the circumstances in which he was found inside the under-construction building. However, police have not reported any evidence of criminal activity or the involvement of another person in his death so far.

The cause of death remains unconfirmed, and investigators are expected to rely on the autopsy report and other findings to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
