Australia have revealed a seasoned 32-player squad for the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup, set to be held in England later this month. The announcement, made on Monday, highlights continuity and youth, with 17 players retained from the last tournament held in New Zealand in 2021.

Highlights

  • Charlotte Caslick, the dynamic sevens star, has been selected despite recovering from an ankle injury.
  • Caitlin Urwin is the only uncapped player in the squad.
  • Teenagers Caitlyn Halse (18) and Waiaria Ellis (17) also make the cut, signalling a focus on nurturing young talent.
  • Australia’s opening match is against Samoa in Salford on 23 August, part of a challenging Pool A alongside England and USA.

“We are very proud of the squad and the journey the players and staff have been on for the past two years to get to this point,” said head coach Jo Yapp.
“This is a very special group — diverse in culture, age, and experience.”

Australia were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2021 edition, falling to eventual runners-up England.
