The National Fisheries Week 2025 will be observed throughout Bangladesh from 18 August, with the objectives of enhancing fisheries resources, promoting sustainable development, and raising public awareness about conservation efforts.
This year’s theme is “Building Sanctuaries Makes the Country Rich with Local Fish.”
Inaugural Ceremony
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 am on 18 August at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC).
Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will attend as the chief guest, while Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter will preside over the event.
During the ceremony, sixteen individuals and organisations will be honoured with the Matshya Padak-2025 in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the fisheries sector. The awards will be presented in the form of gold, silver, and bronze medals for first, second, and third prizes respectively.
This year’s observance will also include a special tribute to the martyrs and injured of the July 2024 Uprising.
