RAKSU Election Campaign Officially Begins Today

The campaign for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RAKSU), hall unions, and student representatives in the Senate officially began today, Monday. The campaign period will continue until 9:00 AM on 24 September.

Candidates have been strictly instructed to adhere to the electoral code of conduct throughout the campaigning process.

 

According to the election guidelines, campaigning is allowed from the day of the final candidate list announcement until 24 hours before voting day.

Regulation Details
Campaign Hours Daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM until 24 hours before polling.
Participants Only candidates and registered student voters may campaign. No outsiders are permitted.
Posters Only black-and-white posters allowed, maximum size 60 cm × 45 cm.
Walls Writing on or pasting posters on walls is strictly prohibited.
Microphones Use of loudspeakers/microphones is prohibited except in candidate introduction meetings.
Cross-Gender Access to Halls Male students may only enter female halls, and female students may only enter male halls, with the permission of the respective hall returning officer.
Meetings on Campus Prior approval of the Proctor’s Office is mandatory for location and timing.
ID Requirement All participants must carry their identity cards during campaign activities.
Residential Halls Outsiders are strictly forbidden from staying in halls during the election period.

 

The electoral code further emphasises:

  • Candidates or their supporters must not engage in intimidation, coercion, or obstruction of voting.
  • No rallies or gatherings are allowed inside residential halls or academic buildings.
  • Campaign speeches or media statements must not contain defamatory, obscene, or provocative remarks.
  • Any violation of these rules will result in the offender being handed over immediately to law enforcement authorities.
  • Attempts to disrupt campus peace or breach the code of conduct will invite disciplinary action under university regulations.

 

Professor F. Nazrul Islam, Chief Election Commissioner of RAKSU, said: “The RAKSU election campaign has officially started today. Candidates are permitted to campaign as long as they abide by the code of conduct.”

He further noted that certain provisions are still under review and will be finalised within today.
