On the second day of assuming office, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman attended the Secretariat, continuing his formal engagements. Upon arriving at his office, he received a courtesy visit from the heads of the three armed services, underscoring the importance of civil–military dialogue in the early days of his administration.
On Thursday morning, the Prime Minister held a meeting with:
General Waker-uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff
Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, Chief of Naval Staff
Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, Chief of Air Staff
The meeting also included the Prime Minister’s advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, who was present to facilitate discussions and provide counsel on national defence matters.
Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister was welcomed at the Secretariat by the Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Nasimul Gani, and the Chief Secretary, A.B.M. Abdus Sattar, marking a formal reception that highlighted the continuity of administrative support for the new leadership.
The meeting symbolises the government’s commitment to maintaining robust coordination between civilian leadership and the military hierarchy, a relationship considered vital for national stability and strategic planning. Analysts suggest that early interactions such as this help set a cooperative tone for defence and security policies under the new administration.
For clarity, the key participants in Thursday’s engagements are summarised in the table below:
