Bangladesh’s leading industrial conglomerate, Akij Resources, inaugurated the first flagship outlet of its retail pharmacy chain, Akij Pharmacy, under its subsidiary Akij Lifecare, signalling a new era in healthcare retail in the country.
The grand opening took place on Monday, 15 December 2025, at the Ataturk Tower on Kamal Ataturk Avenue in Banani, Dhaka, and was presided over by actor and medical practitioner Ejazul Islam. The ceremony was attended by Sujan Ghosh, Head of Operations at Akij Pharmacy, along with senior officials from Akij Resources and Akij Pharmacy.
During the event, Chief Business Officer Istiaq Ali Talukdar highlighted the company’s vision, stating, “Our aim is to ensure high-quality medicines and services using state-of-the-art technology for our customers. Through this, we seek to earn the trust of our clients and build long-term relationships with them.”
Deputy COO Sohanur Rahman Sohan added, “Akij Resources has long been recognised for maintaining excellent customer service and high business standards across multiple sectors. We are committed to upholding the same standards and continuity in this new venture.”
Since its launch in June 2025, Akij Pharmacy has rapidly expanded, now operating 13 outlets across the country in key cities including Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Pabna, and Jashore. The company has ambitious plans to further broaden its footprint, aiming to establish an additional 500 outlets within the next three years, thereby enhancing accessibility to quality healthcare and pharmaceuticals nationwide.
The flagship outlet in Banani features a modern design, advanced pharmacy technology, and a wide range of medicines, wellness products, and healthcare solutions. Customers can expect professional service, streamlined prescriptions, and health consultations in a comfortable and customer-friendly environment.
