Anupam Roy’s Friday Concert in Dhaka Postponed by Organisers

A highly anticipated concert by the prominent West Bengal singer, lyricist, and composer Anupam Roy and his band has been postponed just a day before the scheduled performance. The event, which was set to take place in Dhaka, was officially called off following unexpected administrative directives. The news was confirmed on Thursday morning by the primary event organiser, Yamaha Music Bangladesh.

The special concert, titled “One True Sound”, was scheduled to be held on Friday, 26 June, at the United Convention Centre in the capital. Jointly organised by Yamaha Music Bangladesh and Triple Time Communications, the musical evening was also set to feature a performance by the acclaimed Bengal Symphony, promising a grand experience for fusion and contemporary music enthusiasts in Dhaka.

According to an official statement issued by Yamaha Music Bangladesh, all technical and logistical arrangements for the programme had been completed. The organisers had also secured all necessary official clearances and government approvals well in advance. However, unexpected circumstances prompted authorities to issue a late directive advising against holding the gathering at this time. Out of respect for the administrative order, the organisers chose to defer the event.

The sudden postponement has left thousands of ticket-holders disappointed. To address this, the management announced that a full refund policy has been initiated. Every ticket-holder will receive the complete purchase value back through the official ticketing platforms used during the booking process. Detailed instructions regarding the refund mechanism, alongside potential plans for rescheduling the concert, will be shared on the official Facebook page of Yamaha Music Bangladesh within the next 24 hours.

Anupam Roy confirmed the development, stating that the organising committee reached out to him on Thursday morning to inform him of the cancellation. The artist expressed his regret, noting that he and his musicians were fully prepared and looking forward to performing for their audience in Dhaka. Fans of the artist must now wait for further updates regarding a new date for the performance.
