Power supply across several key areas under the Konabari Zonal Office in Gazipur will remain suspended for seven hours on Saturday, 29 August, to facilitate urgent maintenance and grid preservation work.
Confirming the temporary outage, Md. Shafiqul Islam, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of the Konabari Zonal Office, stated that electricity supply will be turned off from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. The scheduled shutdown is part of routine infrastructure maintenance aimed at ensuring grid stability and preventing system overloads in the industrial belt.
The planned maintenance work will affect an extensive network of residential, commercial, and industrial neighbourhoods under the zone’s jurisdiction. Authorities released a list of affected locations, which includes Kuddus Nagar, Peyara Bagan, Chairman Barir Mor, the area surrounding Gazipur Jail, Cotton Club, Halima Road, Namapara, Das Tala (10-Storey) area, Konabari Housing, Pukurpar, Jarun, and Pathanbari Road.
Power outages will also extend to Titas Factory Lane, Parijat, Selim Nagar, Ambagh, Baghiea, Joyertek, Pratapjur, Nosher Market, Borob, Kaler Vita, Meghlal, and Baburchir Mor. Residents and commercial establishments in Mitali Club, Natun Bazar, China Market, Deoliabari, College Gate, Enayetpur, Club Mor, Sabuj Kanan, Hatimara, Baganbari Chaurasta, Enayetpur School Market, Beltala, and areas adjacent to the local Fire Service station will similarly face disruption.
The authorities expressed sincere regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to consumers during the shutdown period. Operational teams are working to complete the necessary engineering and repair tasks within the stipulated timeframe. Officials assured that power supply will be restored immediately across all affected sectors as soon as the maintenance work concludes.
