The beloved playback singer Arijit Singh, whose soulful voice has enthralled millions across the entertainment world, has recently announced a hiatus from singing for films. The decision, which came as a surprise to many, sparked widespread speculation: is Arijit truly stepping away from the silver screen forever? Now, the singer himself has addressed his fans directly, providing clarity and comfort.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Arijit clarified that while he has formally retired from playback singing, his voice is far from disappearing. “Though I have taken the decision to step back from playback work, I cannot bid farewell to the studio just yet,” he wrote. Addressing his fans directly, he added, “If you are not my listener, you need not read this post. To my listeners and supporters, I want you to know—I love you immensely. Receiving such love in this harsh world humbles me.”

Arijit further explained that he remains committed to completing his pending projects, honouring promises already made. While he has ceased accepting new projects, a significant number of recordings still remain in his repertoire.

He advised his critics to speak their minds but told fans not to engage unnecessarily: “Do not get involved in discussions that lead you astray. The remaining projects may take me until the end of this year—or even into the next—to complete. Stay calm.”

The singer’s announcement has prompted a flood of responses online. Thousands of fans have shared their messages of affection. Some comments include:

“Our day doesn’t begin without your songs.”

“Take a break, but don’t leave entirely—we need your music.”

Arijit expressed gratitude for his fans’ unwavering support, emphasising that their encouragement is a key reason for his success. He assured them that he would not disappear suddenly and would continue to engage in music on his own terms.

Currently, Arijit plans to spend more time in his hometown of Jiaganj, dedicating himself to social initiatives and promoting music education. While he may have stepped back from film playback, his musical journey is far from over—he intends to complete his pending work before focusing on independent music.
