DHAKA — The publication of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examination results, originally scheduled for 20 July, has been officially deferred owing to pressing administrative engagements across the education boards. While a definitive new date has not been finalised, educational authorities have assured candidates and parents that the results will be formalised and released before the conclusion of the current month.
Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, the Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, confirmed the development on Saturday afternoon, 18 July. Speaking to members of the press, he clarified that although the regional education boards had successfully modernised their analytical frameworks to meet the initial deadline, unexpected administrative burdens had temporarily shifted institutional priorities.
The timeline for the publication of the public examination results was initially established by the Minister for Education and Primary and Mass Education, Dr A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon. During a press briefing held on 15 June, the minister had directed all eleven education boards to expedite the evaluation process to ensure a publication date no later than 20 July. On that same occasion, he also outlined the state’s educational calendar, noting that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results would ideally follow within a two-month window following the conclusion of those specific exams.
“The honourable minister had initially set the target for 20 July, and the respective boards had taken comprehensive measures to abide by that directive,” Professor Aktaruzzaman stated. “However, due to current nationwide circumstances, officials have had to devote significant time to urgent administrative tasks, leaving us with slightly less time than anticipated to fine-tune the final tabulation sheets. The delay will not be extensive; it will merely take a few extra days to ensure complete transparency.”
Expressing absolute confidence in the updated timeline, the committee chairman added that the evaluation teams are currently working extended hours. “Insha’Allah, we expect to wrap up all pending logistical operations and publish the consolidated outcomes within this month,” he remarked.
The postponement impacts a substantial student demographic across Bangladesh. A total of 1,857,344 candidates from 11 education boards registered for the SSC and equivalent certifications this year. The gender parity among examinees remains highly balanced, comprising 930,305 male students and 927,039 female students.
The public examinations, which began nationwide on 21 April, were conducted under strict invigilation and state monitoring. Education ministry officials reported that the stringent monitoring successfully deterred institutional irregularities. Nevertheless, disciplinary committees took decisive action against academic malpractice, resulting in the expulsion of 208 students caught adopting unfair means during the assessment period.
Local education boards are now preparing their online portals and telecommunication channels to handle the high volume of traffic expected on the eventual publication day. Following standard protocols, a statistical summary of the pass rates and top-achieving institutions will be formally presented to the government before the results are publicised across national portals.
