The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, carrying 419 pilgrims. The flight was operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Upon arrival, the pilgrims were received at the airport by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, along with other officials.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the arrival of the flight marks the commencement of this year’s Hajj air travel arrangements from Bangladesh. The ministry confirmed that a total of 419 Hajj pilgrims were on board the inaugural flight.
At the Jeddah airport, Bangladeshi pilgrims were formally welcomed by Ambassador Md Delwar Hossain and Counsellor (Hajj) Md Kamrul Islam. As part of the reception arrangements, pilgrims were greeted with flowers and provided with refreshment kits, as stated in the official notification.
Several other officials were also present during the reception. These included the Consul General at the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah, Md Sakhawat Hossain; Assistant Seasonal Hajj Officer Md Ruhul Amin; Head of Operations at the Jeddah Hajj Terminal, Ihaia Radi; and Raed Bakshaun, Manager of Nusuk Marhaba, the Saudi organisation involved in pilgrim assistance services.
The ministry’s statement noted that coordinated arrangements were in place at the airport to facilitate the smooth reception of arriving pilgrims. The presence of diplomatic and consular representatives, along with operational officials at the Hajj terminal, formed part of the structured protocol for incoming Hajj groups.
The inaugural departure of the Hajj flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka took place on Friday night at approximately 11:30 pm. The flight was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the airport, marking the formal start of Bangladesh’s Hajj flight operations for the season.
