The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued a firm clarification regarding the formation of regional cricket entities, warning against the unauthorized setup of district-level cricket bodies. The decision comes after the governing body noticed several private and group initiatives attempting to establish district-based cricket associations to organize and promote the sport independently across various regions.
In an official press release, the BCB stated that it holds no connection, affiliation, or formal recognition with any such self-proclaimed organisations or initiatives. The board explicitly clarified that these entities cannot be recognized as official or affiliated district cricket associations under any circumstances.
To reinforce its regulatory stance, the governing body cited key provisions from the BCB constitution that outline the governance of regional cricket administration:

Article 6.2: Dictates that the expansion and coordination of cricket organisations nationwide, including the formation of regional and district cricket associations according to designated zones, falls strictly under the authority of the BCB.

Article 6.4: Empowers the BCB to grant recognition, oversee activities, and exercise control over affiliated cricket organisations, regional bodies, and sub-entities across the country.

Article 9.1(b): Mandates that any recognised district cricket association must be constituted in full compliance with BCB-approved guidelines. These bodies are required to run regular local leagues and actively participate in national competitions, including the National Cricket League, National Cricket Championship, and age-group tournaments.
The board also highlighted a specific clause in Article 9.1(b) concerning areas lacking dedicated cricket infrastructure. In districts where formal administrative facilities for a separate cricket association have not yet been established, the existing District Sports Association (DSA) will function as the recognised district cricket entity in the interim.
Under these constitutional framework provisions, only committees and organisations formed with explicit approval and oversight from the governing body will be integrated into the official BCB structure. The board cautioned that any entity operating without formal sanction while claiming to be a recognised district cricket association is acting in direct violation of the BCB constitution and will be treated as an illegal body.
