A passenger bus travelling from Naniarchar to Chattogram overturned in a road accident in Rangamati, leaving at least 15 passengers injured. The incident occurred on Thursday morning (26 March) in the Sapchari area under Rangamati Sadar Upazila, triggering panic among passengers and local residents who rushed to the scene to assist in rescue efforts.

According to initial accounts from witnesses, the bus was navigating a hilly and winding stretch of road when it suddenly lost control. The driver reportedly failed to maintain stability while negotiating a sharp bend, causing the vehicle to veer off balance and overturn on the roadside. The impact was severe enough to jolt passengers inside the bus, several of whom were thrown from their seats and sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Local residents quickly gathered at the scene following the crash. Many assisted in breaking open windows and helping trapped passengers exit the overturned vehicle. Emergency response efforts were also supported by nearby commuters before formal rescue teams arrived. The injured were transported to nearby healthcare facilities, where they received initial medical treatment.

Hospital sources indicated that while most of the injured passengers suffered minor to moderate injuries such as cuts, bruises, and fractures, a few were reported to be in more serious condition. However, medical officials confirmed that no fatalities had been reported immediately after the incident.

Law enforcement officers later arrived at the site and took control of the situation. Traffic movement along the affected road section was temporarily disrupted as recovery operations were carried out. The overturned bus was eventually removed from the roadway, allowing vehicular movement to resume.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary assessments suggest that factors such as road conditions, vehicle speed, and possible mechanical failure are being considered. Officials have also stated that statements will be collected from the driver, passengers, and eyewitnesses to establish a clearer understanding of the circumstances leading to the crash.

The Sapchari route is known for its hilly terrain, sharp bends, and challenging driving conditions. Local residents have repeatedly expressed concerns over road safety in the area, citing frequent accidents involving public transport vehicles. They have called for stricter monitoring of vehicle fitness, improved road maintenance, and enhanced driver training to reduce the risk of such incidents.
