An eleven-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted after travelling to her grandfather’s residence in the Ramgati sub-district of Lakshmipur. The criminal incident took place within the Char Badam union of the sub-district. Following the incident, the local police force initiated an immediate operation, leading to the apprehension of the accused individual, identified as Mamun. He has since been remanded in custody by judicial order.

Incident Background and Sequence of Events

According to accounts provided by local residents and the family of the victim, the eleven-year-old girl permanently resides in the Ramganj sub-district of the Lakshmipur district. She had recently travelled with her family to the Char Badam union in Ramgati to spend the Eid holidays at her maternal grandfather’s home.

On the day of the incident, during the afternoon hours, a neighbour named Mamun took advantage of an isolated opportunity to forcibly move the child to a secluded location, where he subjected her to a sexual assault. Upon hearing the victim’s screams, nearby residents rushed to the scene, causing the perpetrator to flee the area immediately.

The assault triggered widespread outrage and tension among the local community, prompting residents to notify law enforcement authorities. Recognising the gravity of the offence, the Ramgati police personnel conducted a night-time raid, successfully tracking down and detaining the suspect.
