Coach Backs Babar Ahead Bangladesh Tests

Babar Azam has rediscovered his form at a crucial juncture, prompting renewed optimism within Pakistan’s camp ahead of their upcoming Test series in Bangladesh. The former captain, who has endured a challenging spell over the past few months, has responded emphatically with a string of impressive performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, signalling a timely return to rhythm and confidence.

Representing Peshawar Zalmi, Babar struck a commanding century that played a decisive role in guiding his side to the final. His innings, marked by fluent stroke play and measured temperament, has been widely regarded as a reminder of his calibre at the highest level. The resurgence has not gone unnoticed within the national setup, with Pakistan’s Test head coach Sarfraz Ahmed offering strong words of encouragement.

Sarfraz noted that Babar’s technical foundation appears more solid than before and highlighted the batter’s improved consistency at the crease. According to the coach, the right-hander now looks far more assured, converting starts into substantial scores and demonstrating renewed mental strength following a lean period in international cricket that even saw him dropped from the side.

The Pakistan squad, which includes Babar, is set to tour Bangladesh next month for a two-match Test series forming part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle. Pakistan are scheduled to remain in a training camp until 1 May before departing for Bangladesh on 2 May. The series begins in Dhaka and then moves to Sylhet for the second Test.
