The media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters confirmed the incident on Sunday evening, stating that two firefighting units were immediately dispatched to combat the inferno. Gazipur, a major industrial hub housing thousands of ready-made garment factories, frequently experiences warehouse fires due to the dense concentration of combustible materials and textile waste storage facilities.

Local residents first noticed dense clouds of black smoke rising from the premises before flames rapidly spread across the facility. Given the presence of large quantities of dry cotton waste, fabric trimmings, and synthetic materials inside the warehouse, the fire intensified rapidly, making initial containment efforts challenging. Nearby shopkeepers and residents attempted to douse the flames with water buckets, but the volatile nature of the stored materials required professional intervention.

Firefighters positioned hose lines around the perimeter of the structure to prevent the flames from leaping to neighboring buildings and warehouses. Emergency crews worked continuously to suppress the blaze and eliminate secondary fire pockets within the compressed bales of textile waste.

The precise cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and officials have confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. Fire officers indicated that a formal investigation into the origin of the fire and an assessment of total financial losses will be conducted once cooling-off operations are completed and the site is rendered safe.
