Iconic music duo CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse have resurrected their celebrated collaboration Gnarls Barkley for one last studio album. Titled ‘Atlanta’, the record is scheduled for release on 6 March 2026 through 10k Projects, an imprint associated with Atlantic Records. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the album’s lead single, “Pictures”, marking the pair’s first studio recording together in 18 years.
“Pictures” draws its inspiration from Green’s childhood experiences travelling on Atlanta’s MARTA public transit system. Speaking in a press statement, Green recalled, “I had a middle school principal who, every Friday, would tell me to leave when I arrived at school. I was in eighth grade and would spend the day riding the train alone from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.” These hours of solitary commuting evidently shaped the reflective and narrative tone of the new track.
While Gnarls Barkley have not released a collaborative record since 2008’s The Odd Couple, both artists have remained active individually. Green released his sixth studio album, CeeLo Green is Thomas Calloway, in 2020, following 2015’s Heart Blanche and 2012’s CeeLo’s Magic Moment. Alongside his solo work, he has served for multiple seasons as a judge on The Voice and has contributed vocals to tracks by Eminem, Tyrese, T.I., and Asher Roth.
Danger Mouse, meanwhile, has spent the past decade focusing on collaborative projects with a wide array of artists, including Sparklehorse, Daniele Luppi, and Karen O. In 2022, he teamed up with Black Thought for the album Cheat Codes, and more recently collaborated with MorMor on the 2025 track “Wonder.”
‘Atlanta’ features a total of thirteen tracks, blending the eclectic mix of alternative soul, funk, and experimental production that fans have come to expect from Gnarls Barkley. The tracklist is as follows:
| Track No. | Title |
|---|---|
| 01 | Tomorrow Died Today |
| 02 | I Amnesia |
| 03 | Pictures |
| 04 | Line Dance |
| 05 | Turn Your Heart Back On |
| 06 | Let Me Be |
| 07 | Cyberbully (Yayo) |
| 08 | Perfect Time |
| 09 | Sweet Evil |
| 10 | Boy Genius |
| 11 | The Be Be King |
| 12 | Sorry |
| 13 | Accept It |
The release of ‘Atlanta’ signals both a farewell and a celebration for Gnarls Barkley fans worldwide. The album promises to merge Green’s lyrical introspection with Danger Mouse’s genre-defying production, offering a final glimpse into the duo’s distinctive creative synergy. With “Pictures” already hinting at a reflective and rhythmically intricate record, anticipation is high for what may be the duo’s most mature and evocative work yet.
In reviving Gnarls Barkley for this concluding chapter, Green and Danger Mouse have not only honoured their collaborative legacy but also reinforced their status as innovators in contemporary music, leaving fans with a poignant yet electrifying farewell.
