The President of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, has extended his official felicitations to the citizens of the nation and the global Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. In a formal state message broadcast from Bangabhaban on Thursday, 28 May 2026, the Head of State issued an appeal to the wealthy and privileged tiers of society, calling on them to advance human welfare by sharing the festivities with the poor, marginalized, and needy.
President Shahabuddin stated that Eid-ul-Adha stands as a universal, transcendent reminder of self-sacrifice, spiritual reformation, and the elimination of malice, animosity, and base impulses within the human character, rather than just a primary religious holiday.
The President noted that the sacred occasion has returned to guide the community through its emphasis on absolute submission to divine will, steadfast loyalty, and the principles of social egalitarianism.
His address highlighted the historical precedent set by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who established an enduring baseline of patience, absolute faith, and obedience for mankind when he prepared to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (AS), in compliance with a divine directive. This monumental historical event, the President observed, continuously instructs humanity to remain firm on the path of righteousness and devotion.
The foundational spiritual concepts and civic obligations outlined in the presidential message are structured in the table below:
| Spiritual & Civic Themes | Directives Issued to the Public | Expected Community Outcomes |
| Divine Obedience | Emulating the absolute faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) | Cultivation of righteousness and social equity |
| Asset Distribution | Fair sharing of meat with relatives and the poor | Reduction of economic disparities and hunger |
| Macroeconomic Impact | Engagement in the annual livestock market trade | Massive seasonal injection into the rural economy |
| Environmental Care | Strict waste management at designated local sites | Preservation of public health and city hygiene |
The President underscored the practical socio-economic and nutritional advantages that the annual festival brings to the country. He explained that the systematic and equitable division of sacrificial shares among relatives, neighbors, and the impoverished helps bridge social divides, reduces societal inequality, and actively fosters fraternal bonds.
“The distribution of sacrificial meat provides vital, year-round protein support to the most vulnerable citizens,” President Shahabuddin noted. “On a broader scale, the economic transactions driven by this festival serve to significantly revitalize the national economy.”
Concluding his written message, the President placed special emphasis on environmental sanitation and public health. He requested that all citizens remain highly proactive in disposing of animal waste responsibly and ensure that sacrifices are conducted strictly within designated municipal boundaries. He closed with a national prayer, asking Almighty Allah to accept the public’s sacrifices, bestow continuous blessings upon the nation, and allow Eid-ul-Adha to bring peace, harmony, and lasting stability to the global community.
