Indian Female Psychiatrist Dies After Falling From Ghaziabad Apartment Building

A 40-year-old female psychiatrist has died after falling from a high-rise residential building in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with local authorities suspecting suicide as the primary line of inquiry. Investigations remain underway to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

The deceased has been identified as Dr Hemika Agarwal. According to family members, she had been experiencing severe emotional distress and prolonged clinical depression following her divorce approximately 18 months ago.

As reported by Indian news, citing local police sources, the incident occurred on Sunday in the Raj Nagar Extension area of Ghaziabad. Dr Agarwal fell from a fifth-floor apartment at the “Officers City-2” residential complex. Residents in the vicinity rushed to the scene immediately upon hearing the impact, retrieving her body and transporting her to a nearby hospital, where attending doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The victim’s father, Dr R. Chandra, himself a practising psychiatrist in Ghaziabad, informed police that his daughter had been battling intense psychological stress and depression since her marriage dissolved. Family members confirmed that her mental health had deteriorated markedly over the past year and a half.

Officers from the Ghaziabad police department arrived at the site shortly after the incident to conduct a preliminary examination of the scene and gather forensic evidence. Investigating officers have also been questioning relatives and neighbours to reconstruct the events leading up to the fall. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed whether a suicide note was recovered from the apartment.

Law enforcement officials stated that it would be premature to confirm the exact cause of death until forensic analysis and the post-mortem report are finalized, confirming that all potential leads are currently being examined.
