According to law enforcement authorities, Selim Reza, an influential leader of the Savar municipal unit of the Jubo League—the youth wing of the Awami League—was wanted for his alleged involvement in the violent clashes and subsequent death of a student during the mass anti-discrimination protests. The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) for Savar, Jahangir Alam, officially confirmed the arrest to members of the press on Monday morning. He noted that the suspect has been placed into police custody and is undergoing primary interrogation as part of the formal legal framework before being presented to the judicial court.
