A local grocery store owner, Rezwan Hasan James, has been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the attempted rape of a 10-year-old child in the Khandar area of Bogra town. Although the primary accusation was made against the store’s employee, Moyen Uddin Molla, police arrested James as the second accused in the case. The incident has triggered widespread discussions and criticism throughout the local community.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim’s mother, Sumi Khatun, a resident of the Khandar area, filed the case at the Bogra Sadar Police Station along with her 10-year-old daughter. The complaint states that on the afternoon of 7 June, the child went to a local variety store to purchase some goods. At that time, the shop employee, Moyen Uddin Molla, allegedly pulled the child inside the shop, lowered the rolling shutter, and forcibly held, kissed, and attempted to rape her.
The FIR further notes that nearby residents sensed foul play and forced open the shop’s shutter, causing the accused employee to flee the scene immediately. Family members and local residents subsequently rescued the child from the shop.
The case statement asserts that following the incident, the store owner, Rezwan Hasan James, actively assisted his employee, Moyen, in absconding from the area. Based on this allegation of facilitating the escape, James was named as the second accused in the FIR. With the assistance of local residents, James was initially detained and brought to the Stadium Police Outpost before being handed over to the Sadar Thana Police.
However, the primary suspect, Moyen Uddin Molla, has managed to evade law enforcement since the incident. This development has raised questions among a section of local residents, who noted that while the primary perpetrator remains at large, the store owner has been apprehended on charges of aiding the escape.

Legal experts have noted that the inclusion of an individual’s name in an FIR does not serve as definitive proof of guilt. The determination of criminal liability relies strictly on the verification of allegations, the collection of evidence, and the conclusion of the formal judicial process.
The Sadar Thana Police confirmed that the investigation into the case remains active. Law enforcement officials stated that efforts to track down and arrest the fugitive primary suspect are ongoing, and subsequent legal actions will be determined based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
