The deceased has been identified as Tahir Miah, son of the late Tajim Ullah, a resident of Khagaura Union within Baniyachong upazila.

According to local sources and law enforcement officials, the confrontation began on Monday morning when Tahir Miah, accompanied by his brothers Shahid Miah and Anu Miah, went to their farmland in Chalbon Haor to clear weeds. Shortly after they began working, a group of neighbours—including Zahir Ullah, Sharif, and Bokkor—approached the site and attempted to halt their work. An argument quickly ensued between the two parties regarding the ownership and maintenance of the land.

The verbal altercation rapidly escalated into a violent physical clash as both sides turned on each other. Tahir Miah, his two brothers Shahid Miah and Anu Miah, and a woman named Swapna Begum sustained severe injuries during the violent scuffle.

Locals and relatives rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion and rescued the injured individuals. They transported all four victims to Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital for urgent medical attention. Upon arrival, the attending physician at the emergency department pronounced Tahir Miah dead. The remaining three injured individuals were admitted to the facility, where they received medical treatment for their wounds.

Confirming the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (Baniyachong Circle) Probas Kumar Singha stated that preliminary investigations indicate the murder stemmed from a long-standing feud over land ownership. He assured that law enforcement officers are thoroughly investigating the matter and conducting drives to apprehend those responsible for the violence. Additional police personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain order and prevent any further retaliatory clashes.
