Twenty-eight police officers across the Khulna Division have been withdrawn from their active posts simultaneously following severe allegations of accepting unauthorised financial benefits and engaging in professional misconduct. The disciplinary directive, issued by the Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) office on Friday, 30 October, targets personnel spanning multiple ranks, from constable and auxiliary support staff—including cooks—to Sub-Inspectors (SI).
The sweeping administrative action stems from internal departmental inquiries into operational irregularities within various district police units. Officers stationed across Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhenaidah, Kustia, Chuadanga, and Yashore have been reassigned to range headquarters pending further proceedings. The affected personnel were drawn not only from local police stations but also from critical operational arms, including district Detective Branches (DB) and traffic management divisions.
Highlighting the official stance on systemic discipline, Khulna Range DIG Md. Rezaul Karim confirmed that the measure aligns directly with the government’s declared policy of zero tolerance towards corruption, narcotics, and unlawful activities. Karim emphasised that maintaining internal integrity remains a prerequisite for ensuring effective law enforcement across the region. Unsanctioned financial dealings within the force severely undermine public trust and impede broader efforts to preserve law and order.
This enforcement drive reflects broader directives issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who mandated decisive punitive action against any personnel found compromising professional standards. Senior command structures within the Bangladesh Police have increasingly prioritised internal purge operations to eliminate institutional malpractice and restore public confidence.
Operational audits and performance monitoring across the Khulna Division remain ongoing. Departmental proceedings and formal investigations will determine whether further penal measures or legal actions are warranted against the implicated personnel.
