Bangladeshi band Meghdol is set to share the stage with acclaimed Indian Bengali band Chandrabindoo for the first time in a landmark joint concert scheduled to take place in Kolkata on 5 September. The announcement has generated considerable anticipation among fans of contemporary Bengali music on both sides of the border.
The collaboration was officially confirmed through Meghdol’s verified social media platforms, accompanied by a promotional poster describing the event as “Megh meets the Moon”. The concert is being organised by Talent Wall, although key details such as the venue and seating arrangements are yet to be disclosed and are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Speaking about the upcoming performance, Meghdol’s frontman Shibu Kumar Shil reflected on the artistic alignment between the two groups. He noted that despite their origins in different regions, both bands are connected through a shared musical ethos rooted in Bengali cultural and lyrical traditions. He also described Chandrabindoo as a long-standing influence on Meghdol, particularly during their formative years.
“Chandrabindoo has been an inspiration since our student days. Sharing the stage with them is a true honour,” Shil remarked, adding that the collaboration represents a meeting of creative sensibilities shaped by similar cultural foundations.
He further indicated that Meghdol may undertake additional performances in West Bengal as part of an upcoming tour, with further announcements expected via their official platforms. The band has already developed a strong following in Kolkata, and Shil emphasised the warm reception they have consistently received from audiences in the region, describing it as evidence that music continues to transcend geographical and political boundaries.
Alongside their live performance schedule, Meghdol is also active in new studio work. The band has recorded a track for Roid, an upcoming film directed by Meghdol member Mejbaur Rahman Sumon. The song is expected to be released early next month, contributing to the film’s soundtrack rollout.
In addition, Meghdol is preparing to release the final three songs from their third studio album Aluminium er Dana, titled “Carnival”, “Bagh”, and “Tare Kothay Khuje Pai”.
