Motorbike Abandoned at Fuel Station

A rather unusual incident at a filling station in Rangpur has sparked curiosity among locals after a motorbike was left in a queue for fuel and has remained unclaimed for nearly twelve days.

The motorcycle was reportedly brought to the M/S Unique Filling Station near Shapla Chattar in Rangpur City to collect petrol. However, the rider disappeared shortly after leaving the vehicle in the queue, and has not returned since. Despite repeated attempts by staff to trace the owner, no one has come forward to claim the bike.

When visited on Friday afternoon (17 April), the motorcycle was still found securely parked in a corner of the fuel station premises, seemingly untouched since it was relocated by staff to clear space for other customers.

According to station employees, the situation began on the day of the incident when the bike was left in line but the rider was nowhere to be seen. Initially, staff assumed the individual might have stepped away temporarily. However, as time passed and the rider failed to return, the situation became increasingly unusual.

Sales assistant Al-Amin Islam said that the staff initially waited, expecting the rider to come back shortly. “We thought he might have gone nearby for a moment, but even after a long time there was no sign of him. Eventually, to avoid inconvenience for other customers, we moved the motorcycle aside,” he explained.

He further added that the vehicle remained at the station even after closing hours that night and was still present the following morning. Eventually, it was handed over to station security personnel for safekeeping.

Another employee, Biplob Islam, noted that CCTV footage was reviewed in an attempt to identify the rider. However, the motorcycle had been parked in a blind spot outside the camera’s coverage, making identification impossible.

The station manager, Mizanur Rahman, described the situation as an administrative burden. “The motorcycle has effectively become our responsibility now. We are trying through various channels to locate the rightful owner, including informing local media,” he said.

Meanwhile, regular customers at the station have expressed mixed reactions. Some have described long queues and fuel shortages as a frequent frustration, suggesting that the rider may have left in anger or frustration, though there is no evidence to support this theory.
