The Bangladesh women’s national cricket team celebrated Eid-ul-Adha on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, whilst stationed in Edinburgh, Scotland. While the religious festival is scheduled to begin in Bangladesh on Thursday, 28 May 2026, the touring squad marked the occasion a day earlier in accordance with regional lunar sightings and local calendars observed within the United Kingdom.
Led by their regular captain, Nigar Sultana Joty, the players and coaching staff balanced their religious commitments with preparation for their upcoming international fixtures. Following the completion of morning Eid prayers, the squad gathered for communal celebrations, with several team members sharing festive photographs on social media in traditional attire.
The national team arrived in the United Kingdom in two separate cohorts to assist with acclimatisation. The first group departed Dhaka on Sunday night, 24 May 2026, while the remaining 13 squad members completed their travel on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
The players returned to their professional schedules shortly after their morning celebrations, reporting for a mandatory team training session in the afternoon. Bangladesh is scheduled to participate in a Women’s T20I Tri-Series against host nation Scotland and the Netherlands at the Grange Cricket Club from 28 May to 4 June 2026, which serves as a preparation block before the formal tournament matches.
The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will officially take place across the United Kingdom from 12 June to 5 July 2026. The competition splits the competing nations into two distinct groups for the initial pool phase, with Bangladesh placed in Group 1.
