Prime Minister Inaugurates Bogra City Corporation

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has formally unveiled the nameplate of the Bogra City Corporation during a day-long visit to Bogra on Monday. The ceremony took place at the Bogra Municipal Building at midday.

The Prime Minister departed from his Gulshan residence in Dhaka at 6:10 a.m. by road for Bogra. He arrived at the Bogra Circuit House at 9:58 a.m., where he was received by the District Commissioner, Taufiqur Rahman, who welcomed him with flowers. This visit marks his first to his home district since assuming office as Prime Minister. His wife, Zubaida Rahman, accompanied him during the trip.

Following a short rest at the Circuit House, the Prime Minister attended several official programmes across the district. At the Bogra District Judge Court premises, he inaugurated the newly constructed building of the District Lawyers’ Association (Bar Association). He also inaugurated the nationwide implementation of the e-bail bond system (online submission of bail bonds) from the conference room of the District and Sessions Judge Court.

Later, he proceeded to the Bogra Municipal Building, where he formally unveiled the inauguration plaque of the Bogra City Corporation.

The Prime Minister then travelled by road to his ancestral home in Bagbari village under Gabtali upazila. There, he is scheduled to visit the Ziaur Rahman Rural Hospital and inaugurate a measles-rubella vaccination campaign. He is also expected to inaugurate the distribution programme of family cards at the Bagbari Shaheed Zia Degree College ground.

Subsequently, he is due to launch excavation work on the Chaukidah canal, which runs adjacent to Bagbari village. After visiting his ancestral residence, Zia Bari, he will return to Bogra by road.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister is expected to attend and deliver the chief address at a public rally organised by the district unit of the BNP at the historic Altafunnesa Playground in Bogra city.

Later in the evening, he will inaugurate the newly constructed Bogra Press Club building and also formally launch the reconstruction work of the Baitur Rahman Central Mosque. At around 6:00 p.m., he is scheduled to depart for Dhaka by road, with a brief stopover at the Rural Development Academy (RDA) in Bogra during his return journey.
